How to Claim a Prize Bond Prize in Pakistan
22 September 2026
If one of your prize bond numbers has come up in a draw, the prize is not paid out automatically — you need to encash the bond yourself. Here is the general process.
1. Verify the number against the official result
Before doing anything else, double-check your bond number against the official published result for that exact draw (denomination, draw number, date and city all have to match). Our prize bond checker makes this quick, but for a prize this size it is worth also checking National Savings’ own published list.
2. Take the bond and your CNIC to a National Savings centre or authorised bank
Prize-winning bonds are normally encashed at a National Savings Centre, the State Bank of Pakistan, or a designated commercial bank branch. You will typically need:
- The physical prize bond certificate itself
- Your original CNIC (and a photocopy)
- A completed encashment/claim form (available at the counter)
3. Tax is withheld before you are paid
Prize bond winnings are subject to withholding tax, deducted at source — the amount you actually receive is less than the gross prize shown on the result. The rate differs depending on whether you are an active taxpayer (filer) or not. Use our Prize Calculator to see the filer vs non-filer amount for your prize before you go.
4. Don’t wait too long
Unclaimed prizes are not held indefinitely — there is a claim window (commonly cited as six years from the draw date) after which an unclaimed prize can no longer be collected. If you have several saved numbers, a free Prize Bond Wallet account will check every draw against them automatically and flag a win as soon as it happens, so a prize never sits unnoticed.
This is general information, not tax or legal advice. Prize bond rules, tax rates and procedures are set by National Savings / FBR and can change — always confirm current details with your bank or a National Savings centre before acting.
